McCrindle looking for Development to Continue at Jeanfield

Coach Jason McCrindle took a break from mid-season training to look back on a satisfying first half of the season and share some of his expectations once the league resumes next week.

McCrindle now in his second year at the club has seen the Senior side establish themselves with a credible first year in 2014, and then follow that up with a League Cup success in June, whilst also competing well in an entertaining 1st Division with his side presently sitting top of a very closely-matched top six.

"It has been a very satisfying season so far with lots of positives to take from it. The 17s moving up and the signings we made have fitted in perfectly to an already talented squad, so the strong team spirit we have has continued.

Playing wise I've been particularly impressed with the work rate. We have the ability to play when we have the ball, but off it we are working harder to win the ball back, get back into shape more quickly and we are looking defensively stronger because of this. We have scored more goals, conceded less, had more clean sheets and because of this we have won more games. I suppose it seems quite simple but the attitude of the whole squad has been first class. We have not placed any targets on the girls other than to look to improve their game individually and collectively and to enjoy the environment at the club and the challenges the Division places on them. Every player has contributed to what has been so far a successful season.

The Cup run and Final itself was obviously a fantastic experience and achievement and one that we will remember, but there has actually been a couple of other games that stick out. In a short space of time when we were catching up on games, we played Celtic and Mill Utd away. Both were very difficult away midweek games and although both teams have totally different styles of play, the players showed they can adapt and won both matches. They were both incredibly tough matches and very entertaining also with every department of the team having to contribute. They were almost like away European matches !

It has certainly been an incredible first half of the season and the aim for the 2nd half is just to continue what we have been doing. Nothing really changes. Myself and Steve won't be setting the girls any targets other than to continue their hard work and enjoy the second half as much as they have the first. Maintain a positive and development attitude, and see where it takes us. I'd also like to see some of the talented 17's who have been training with us come in and get some first team match day experience.

We are a side without a lot of back-up and facilities so every game tends to be a challenge, and therefore the 2nd half will be full of challenges. I'm really looking forward to it and seeing the girls continue their development, and can't wait to get started again".

Manager Steve Grossi was full of praise for his assistant and his side. "As soon as Jason arrived it was clear there was a perfect fit. His goals are the same as the club in that he is totally centred on seeing his players improve. The players always come first and he goes about his business in a professional and positive manner, and I'm delighted to see his work paying off in the improvement we have seen in the players and the team. He is very understated in his approach and doesn't attract attention to himself but we know we have an excellent coach working here, and are all really looking forward to the rest of the season. The Division is a cracker this year, full of great teams and every game is going to be exciting to play in".
