Jeanfield Swifts Girls FC are delighted that Rachel Wolecki from our U13’s Sisters team has been selected to attend the SFA Performance School from August 2013.

The school is based at St Johns High School in Dundee and is one of 6 performance schools across Scotland forming part of the 20/20 vision to allow Scotland’s brightest football talent the opportunity to develop towards becoming a Scotland star of the future!! Girls attending the school are allowed at least an hour a day to train and work on their football skills alongside the normal secondary school curriculum.

Rachel is a natural footballer who’s talent has been nurtured from an early age at Jeanfield. She is the daughter of Jeanfield Swifts Head Coach Donna Shaw who says ‘I am extremely proud of Rachel as a mum, obviously it's one opportunity I could only have dreamed of at that age, but it's like the icing on the cake for me as a coach and it makes all the hard graft (tears and tantrums) worth every minute. We all know its a difficult position to be in coaching your own daughter and I'm glad I have been able to guide her the right way but its not just down to my coaching she has been given this opportunity, she is a real natural talent and has the attributes to go a long way in football’. Rachel has been a very important part of each team she has played for as she has moved up through the age groups at Jeanfield, scoring on average 20 goals each season. Her early talent was recognised when she attended the Perth SFA Local Area Squad aged 9. From here she was invited to the East of Scotland SFA Advanced Training Centre at Riverside in Dundee in September 2012 and then selected for the Under 14 Regional Squad, being the youngest member ever selected at the age of 10. Her graduation to the local SFA performance school is well deserved. All of us at Jeanfield are very proud of all she has achieved so far and are excited at the future that lies ahead for her.

Jeanfield Swifts Girls FC are proud to be a club dedicated to the development of girls football and the nurturing of footballers with good technique and tactical awareness. For a small club we are delighted that ex players like Gemma Faye, Lisa Evans, Lana Clelland and Emma Mitchell have gone on to play with the Scotland Women’s A Squad. We have a great squad of football talent with real potential and continue to work hard to improve each and every girl at the club. We are determined that Rachel will be the first of many Jeanfield girls to make her way to the Performance School and onwards to Scottish Internationalist.
