Stuart Cowper Joins Jeanfield Media Team

After many years of admiring the post-match and general photos of many opposing teams the Ladies team were pleased this year to secure the services of Richard Smith. However they received an added boost recently when the club added freelance photographer Stuart Cowper to the media team.

Although Stuart is a "local lad and Saints fan" his journey so far has seen him catch some very famous global stars, which will obviously set him up well in working with the Ladies and all their prima donnas !

Stuart explained....

In 2012 I managed to join the paparazzi for a day and capture Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth at the railway station as they filmed scenes from their film, 'The Railwayman'.

Later that year I went down to London for the TeamGB & ParalympicsGB Victory Parade and managed to get shots of a few of the household names. I had a few printed off and sent to likes of Sir Chris Hoy, Jess Ennis, Dame Sarah Storey and had them back signed, now framed on my wall. Helen Glover - Olympic and World Champion rower tweeted me to say she was putting a copy I sent her up in her house which I was rather chuffed at!

Last year however I got what is probably the best photo that I've taken during the visit of William and Kate at Crieff High School. I got a shot of her smiling, and pretty much looking right at me. I was that close to her, William, the Provost and Lord Lieutenant I had to step back to fit them in the photo - couldn't have been better placed! It was a slightly surreal moment.

Despite the above one of my best moments was when I achieved my ambition of taking photos pitch side at McDiarmid the best coming in 2013 when I was pitchside for the match against Motherwell, which we won to qualify for Europe.

I've been into my photography for a good few years, but it was 2009 when I started to take it a bit more seriously and there have been a few photos that I have been pleased with. I got my first news-worthy photo published in the Perthshire Advertiser within 6 months (the fire at the Holden's Scrapyard on the Shore Road) and since then I've had my work used by The Courier, Evening Telegraph, PA, Daily Record, BBC & STV.

I like to focus on news/event/sports photography and also cover some corporate stuff too. I do enjoy my football photography though - I am regularly out at Scone Thistle but also take photos at a lot of the Perthshire Amateur games - so I am really looking forward to this opportunity with the Jeanfield ladies. Hopefully the photos will do their performances justice!
