Away Win keeps 100% record intact
With both teams having a 100% league record thus far, it made this an important game for both sides.
Right from the off we pushed forward with Mash firing in a ball from the kick off that was headed out as Ruairidh was about to pounce.
We kept Elgin up in their own half with a quick succession of corners, before Blane had a great chance to open the scoring.
In the 2nd minute a quick move involving Matty and Rohan saw Matty float the ball in, Blane 10yards from goal and unmarked headed wide believing he was offside.
Rohan then had a good shot from 25 yards that flashed just wide.
We continued to create the better chances with Adam, Blane and Lewis all having chances but we couldn't find the target.
In the 26th minute we had to move things around when Lewis picked up an ankle injury.
The boys continued to push for an opener with Ruairidh and Matty having good chances but shooting wide.
We had a great goal disallowed with Ruairidh and Matty playing some neat 1-2's around the box before Matty broke through and scored, only for the ref to pull it back for what he though was offside.
The defence was coping well with the occasional Elgin attack limiting them to the odd long shot that Finlay had no trouble with.
In the 36th minute we got the goal our play merited, the goal came from a good build up, a ball from the back found Rohan who passed out wide to Matty his low cross found Blane 5 yards out and he calmly slotted home.
Ruairidh then had another chance when he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box only to see the ball drop agonisingly wide of the goal.
Right on the stroke of half time Elgin grabbed an equaliser through a penalty, it was a bit of a soft decision, the ref maintained he was hit but it didn't look like he was touched.
Right from the off we were on the front foot again with both Blane and Ruairidh going close, we got back in the lead in the 52nd minute, Blane finished another great move with a sublime finish lobbing the keeper from inside the box.
Elgin were then reduced to 10 men, this seemed to unsettle us a little and it took us a while to get back into the game, this gave Elgin a bit of hope. They pushed us back for a little while but again the defence was not badly troubled with Mash, Nath, Cammy and Dave soaking up the pressure
As we got back into the game we then extended our lead with Nathan McK being the first to react and heading home after the keeper had parried a shot in the 69th minute.
We created more chances to further extend our lead with Matt K going closest, his powerful shot forced the keeper to make a good stop.
Near the end Ruairidh made a great solo run from half way before rounding the keeper and cooly stroking the ball into the empty net to finish off the game.
Well done lads a great result to keep our 100% record intact.
MOTM- Cameron Macdonald, solid at the back and some great forward runs.
