Jeanfield Swifts 2006 vs Bridge of Earn
By Alan Esplin
Narrow home defeat for Swifts
Despite yesterday's weather the Jeanfield pitches were playable this morning as we welcomed Bridge of Earn in the first of our last round of league fixtures. The boys got off to a flier with some excellent football and were rewarded within 5 mins when after some neat passing down the right a pinpoint cross by Kewin was met smartly by Kyle. Boys continued to play some of their best football for a while and went further ahead when a free kick on the wide right was rifled into the top corner by captain for the day Callum. Brig though responded quickly and pulled one back as half time approached

Second half with Brig playing with the wind was a different proposition and they pressed us considerably more than they had in the 1st. Despite this we were defending well and it was very unfortunate that Brig equalized when after a stramash* in the box, a Brig player was adjudged to have been pushed. The resultant penalty was dispatched to make it 2-2 with 15 remaining. The game could have went either way and unfortunately (again) we were edged out with 8 mins to go when a ball through the middle was net on the left by the Brig player who shot well to win it.

Great performance first half by the boys and whilst we shaded slightly in the second half we can still continue to take positives as part of our development. Whilst we didn't create as many chances as last week we played better with the ball across the pitch.
Man of match was Ross who again put in an excellent consistent performance at right back. Well done Ross, your ongoing development has been one of the highlights of the season.
Also special mention to Colin who, having made a wee cameo appearance last week, played his first full game for Jeanfield this morning and played really well.
