Jeanfield Girls, Jeanfield Sister's

Now that the league season for 2012 is over Head Coach Donna Shaw gives her thoughts on how the club have made a vast improvement with our youngest youth team. She said "Our club has multiplied in numbers this year and it is great to see so many girls playing football at Jeanfield. Jeanfield U11’s began this year with 8 girls, Laura Barnett was appointed the manager’s job with Bex Nisbet and myself coaching the team and the girls have gone from strength to strength. In April this year we entered a competition called Host Your Kit to win strips as funding was tight and won!”

“Winning the Host Your Kit competition galvanised our club we have grown in numbers from the publicity and by the time summer break came we had 22 girls ranging from 7-11 years old. The ‘original’ girls had won all their games so the decision was made to create 2 teams. The 2001 girls became the Jeanfield Sisters and have now been playing in a transition league with a mixture of girl’s u11s & u13s. The Sisters rose to the challenge and have been very successful they play some excellent football, they are a joy to watch and work with. Our new u11’s gained Claire Devine as manager with Bex Nesbit, Fiona Campbell and Paula Cowie coaching. It’s great to see so many women involved with our club! They are promoting Positive Coaching Scotland giving the young ones the tools they need to progress. The 11’s are now getting more game time and have a chance to learn through play. “

“I believe Jeanfield is now moving in the right direction with positive coaches getting involved and making a difference with the next generation coming through”
