Shift to East of Scotland promises new opportunity for Swifts youth teams

Some of our youth teams have been very successful already and this is a great incentive for the lads signing for Jeanfield for the coming season. We'll be starting to look closely at players from the youth set-up that show the potential to step up."

The recent move by Jeanfield Swifts to swap Junior football for the East of Scotland League brings huge excitement and opportunity for football in Perth and young players in particular look set to reap the benefits.

With an established pathway in place already from the club's Soccer School right through to the top team, Jeanfield can now offer young Perth players a clear route to top-level football.

Manager Ross Gunnion explains...

"In the last few years we've been bringing some players through from our 19's squad to the senior men's side, our aim is to increase the number of players from our youth section that continue into the top team. The move to East of Scotland league offers huge potential for us on that front.

With the addition of Logan McConnachie as head coach this year we've also brought in a high calibre, well qualified coach. Logan is really keen that we continue to develop our own talent and we have a quota in mind for the number of players we'd like to see coming through.

Some of our youth teams have been very successful already and this is a great incentive for the lads signing for Jeanfield for the coming season. We'll be starting to look closely at players from the youth set-up that show the potential to step up."

The new season kicks off for the Senior side on the 28th July and preparations have already begun for the club's debut in the Senior ranks.
