Club update on COVID 19

This is not a drill, so its incumbent on all of us to do our bit to limit the spread and protect the most vulnerable in our communities in the coming weeks and months.

The last two weekends have seen no football for all clubs at every level across the country. At Jeanfield, we suspended all activity at the club until further notice from Friday 13th March.

This included the first team, ladies team, amateurs, and youth sections. This also includes our Community Activity, our holiday football camps and our school holiday lunch clubs. Good news for our pitches, which will get a much-needed rest, but not for those of us who love and enjoy our football.

As a community club, we have around 400 people participating in football most weekend's at elite and grassroots levels. In these exceptional circumstances, the most important thing is that we follow advice from our national governing body, the SFA, and do what we can as a club to protect the health and wellbeing of the wider community.

There is a community initiative underway already to support communities across North Perth and you can volunteer to help here -

Many people linked to our club will be working on the front line to combat the virus, care for those infected or just simply keep our vital services running. They all need our thanks and our support at the moment at what will be a very challenging time.

We're also conscious that all our young people who were preparing as normal for their exams only a few weeks ago, now face additional stress, pressure, and uncertainty as well as enforced absence from school. The positive mindset, strength of character and energy they demonstrate on the football field will stand them in good stead to help overcome this new adversity.

There's lots of coverage about Covid 19, but everyone should follow the official advice for more information on how you can be responsible and minimise risk to yourself and others.
