Pitfour 2006 vs Jeanfield Swifts 2006

After the disappointment of Sunday we were back in action with a visit out to St Madoes to again play our cup conquerors and league contenders Pitfour. With a few formation tweaks we hoped to get a better result and we got off to a great start when Pitfour were unable to clear their lines and Kyle stroked the ball home from 12 yards to give us the lead. We were pressing the home side really hard with pace down the sides and the midfield was operating superbly. Although we had most of the play Pitfour fashioned an equaliser from out of nothing when a shot from the 18 yard box hit the post but sneaked in over the line. Game was really tight though and our possessional advantage was rewarded when a long ball to their GK was misfielded by him and Callum showed superb vision to take the ball and turn it in from a tight angle, with a bit of help from the unrushing Pitfour defender.

Pitfour came out of the blocks early 2nd half and enjoyed a lot of possession but found our back line in imperious form with Cammy looking super cool with his handling and their big striker who had enjoyed his Sunday against us finding Big Kev a whole different proposition. With our centre backs Sonny and Ben holding firm and Aidan smoking a cigar at left back we were looking comfortable. We extended our lead when a pass through was met by Callum and using his strength superbly bested the defenders and stroked the ball home. We could have added to our tally with a couple of near misses. With 5 mins to go their big striker for the first time managed to get some space and shot from 18 yards to set up nervy last few mins. The boys held out though for a fine victory
