Season opener vs Letham Sky Blues

Our first league match of the season up at Seven Acres to play Letham Sky Blues. With only 6 teams in the league this year we expect it to be close and this match probably was a reasonable foretaste of what is to come.
First half was very tight with not a lot of goalmouth action at either end. A couple of half chances here and there but nothing really to write home about.

Second half was a bit more open and the boys really got into their groove playing some good football. We were rewarded with a goal 10 mins in when a great pass by Fergus found Kyle who scored with a fantastic strike across the GK. We were very much in the ascendancy and had a great chance to make it 2 but couldn't convert. With the Sky Blues making the most of their full squad and replacing with fresh legs they began to press and with 10 mins ago a counter attack found their player who struck high into the net. The game looked like it was heading for a draw and good away point when in the last minute a speculative strike from a Letham player was deflected into the air and, with the wind and a top spin on the bounce that Shane Warne would have been proud of, wickedly plopped over Cammy into the net for an unexpected home winner

Hugely disappointing for the the boys today but tons of positives to take in terms of effort, skill and endeavour. Boys played well and with a full squad hopefully available soon we can really kick on.

Special mention to Kelton today who made his full competitive debut and played the full 70.

Man of the match was Ciaran who had a fantastic game in midfield. His ball control and distribution was a joy to watch and comfortably lasting the full 70 shows how far he is progressing.
