Young Swifts off the mark with solid victory

On a beautiful hot bank holiday Sunday morning we welcomed Bridge of Earn for our first home league match of the season. ⚽?
Conditions were hot and dry but both teams started brightly with Brig having slightly more of the game. Similar to last week it was quite nip and tuck with a few half chances but the deadlock was broken when a Jeanfield clearance was fortuitously blocked and fell to a Brig player who rifled in a long range shot.

Second half we were out of the traps and within a minute were level when a shot from the right from Kyle was parried by the GK into the path of Callum who at a second attempt slotted into the net. We were playing really well now and were starting to control the game. On 50 mins we had a free kick in the edge of the box. Big Callum stepped up and thundered a beauty into the corner round the wall. 2-1 Swifts.? We continued to press and create chances whilst still maintaining good defensive discipline. On 60 mins Ben gained a free kick and from distance rifled a shot into the top corner which was parried onto the bar but Sonny pounced on the loose ball to give us daylight. With a minute to go yet another free kick from distance was earned and Sonny dispatched a bullet right into the top corner. ⚽?

A powerful second half performance from the boys made the difference here and got our campaign off the mark. Although it was our set pieces that sealed the victory, the all round play was excellent and with only one sub the boys stamina and fitness in the hot conditions was impressive ?⚽

A lot of candidates for MOTM with special mentions to Callum and Sonny for sterling performances but today it goes to Kelton who in only his second ever match at 11s gave an assured performance at the back and never tired in the gruelling conditions. Well done ?⚽
