McCrindle Steps Up as Swifts Restructure

With the challenge of SWPL2 football ahead Jeanfield Swifts Ladies have been busy planning. The first of many expected developments is the confirmation of Jason McCrindle as Head Coach. McCrindle will assume full control for all football matters in a move that will see Steve Grossi take on a general management role. Grossi explained..” we have always looked to develop the club every year and have done it through evolution rather than revolution and this is a continuation of that successful strategy. Jason has had a huge impact on the side since arriving and although he was already very influential on all things football, this appointment will give him full responsibility. We will also bring in some more coaching resource to assist Jason continue progressing the side. He has already started to implement some initial changes, will bring a freshness that will help the girls, and I know his appointment will further improve the team. It will also allow me to concentrate on the planning side of the club as well as offering support to Jason and the girls in whatever capacity they need.”

McCrindle added “ I’m excited about assuming full control as I really believe in this set of players and I think they can enjoy and prosper in SWPL2. There is a huge amount of work ahead of the girls but having lost only one of last year’s squad and plenty of interest in and from other players I am looking forward to starting pre-season. The girls are already showing a desire to prepare well for 2016 and contribute to the effort in every way they can. I am also excited about the quality of some of the younger girls with the likes of Ellie Cowie and Leah Fleming already having made their debuts at 14 and I will certainly be looking to develop as many of these players as part of the training and playing squad this season”.

McCrindle will have to wait one further week to commence his pre-season with the team as he is part of the SFA Coach Conference Team who are heading to Paris to evaluate the set ups at Olympique Lyonnais, Paris Saint-Germain and Juvisy-Essonne. He concluded “the trip is going to give me a great opportunity to learn from some of the best sides in Europe, and I’m looking forward to applying what I learn at Jeanfield in 2016 for the benefit of the girls”
