LEAGUE CUP

Jeanfield Swifts got their season underway with a resounding 10 v 1 victory against Kinrossie Caledonian at home in the league cup

Goals from Marc Caldow (3) Sam Grieve (4) Scott Phillips, New captain Colin Henderson and Young Boyd Ferguson saw manager Scott McCabe delighted with his teams over all performance.

Jeanfield came out of the traps flying dominating early possession with some nice flowing football and were rewarded after a great delivery from Terry Young saw Marc Caldow strike bounce into the ground and over the helpless keepers head - GOAL 1 V 0 Jeanfield 12 mins

Striker Callum Kay was unfortunate and picked up an early injury forcing manager Scott McCabe to make a change with Sam Grieve entering the field looking to get his season off to a great start however it was Marc Caldow who doubled the lead for the home side after a fantastic assist from New Captain Colin Henderson GOAL 2 V 0 Jeanfield 28 mins

Moments later the visitors got themselves back in the game after Jeanfield looked to play the ball out from the back, an unfortunate bobbled allowed the Kinrossie striker to nick the ball and find the back of the net GOAL 2 V 1 Kinrossie 29 mins

The hope of a comeback was short lived as Jeanfield attacked straight from kick off Sam Grieve got his 1st of the day and Jeanfield third GOAL 3 V 1 Jeanfield 31 mins

It didn’t take long for Grieve to double his tally after Caldow received a great pass from the midfield to go one on one with the keeper however unselfishly slotted the ball across the goal for Grieve to pass it into the empty net GOAL 4 V 1 Jeanfield 36 mins

As Jeanfield continued to dominate the play and cause problems for the Kinrossie defence, a clash between Grieve and Leitch saw the latter receive his second yellow of the game and his marching orders leaving the opposition to see the reminder of the game out with 10 mins. Grieve also received a yellow card.

HALF TIME Jeanfield 4 v 1 Kinrossie

The second half got under way the exact same as the first with Jeanfield on the front foot and after some good attacking play down the right flank a ball whipped in missed everyone only for Scott Phillips to get on the end of it, a nice little bit of footwork allowed him space to hammer the ball past the helpless keeper GOAL 5 v 1 Jeanfield

Minutes later with Jeanfield attacking again a free kick was awarded 20 yards from goal. With the wall in place Skipper Henderson ran up and casually slotted the ball to the side of the wall and into the bottom right hand corner to score a well worked free kick GOAL 6 V 1 Jeanfield

Jeanfield made 3 further substitutions to freshen the legs which was rewarded with some more good play and Marc Caldow smashing the ball home and getting his 1st hatrick of the season GOAL 7 V 1 Jeanfield

Not to be out done by his striking partner Sam Grieve also managed to grab his 1st hatrick of the season after another good assist from Caldow saw Grieve find the back of the net for Jeanfield’s 8th GOAL 8 v 1 Jeanfield

Jeanfield, very much dominating possession at this point playing some nice attractive football continued to be a threat and after a great ball from Henderson, Grieve scored his fourth of the afternoon to ensure he started the season in perfect fashion GOAL 9 v 1 Jeanfield.

Attacking down the right again Jeanfield forced the Kinrossie defence back again after some nice play between the midfield the ball was drilled across the box for Boyd Ferguson, who came on for Tanyous, to get on the end and drill the ball past the keeper to round off a fantastic performance GOAL 10 v 1 Jeanfield
