Jeanfield Swifts met Letham CC for the second time in 2 weeks, this time it was for a place in the next round of the scottish cup.
Manager Scott McCabe wanted to add to his impressive start by making it 5 wins from 6 but knew his team would have to work hard to take the victory against a strong Letham side.
Jeanfield started the better of the two teams although there wasn’t a lot to separate the teams until the 20th minute when after some good pressure a trademark long throw from Sean Buchan managed to beat almost everyone but the unlucky defender who’s deflection saw the ball hit the back of the net GOAL 1 v 0 JEANFIELD
5 minutes later a long ball saw Chris Bell win a free kick after being pushed in the back. Captain Colin Henderson stood over the ball about 30 yards out and played a lovely directed ball to the back post, which was met by Kris Sime who saw his great header loop over keepers head and found the bottom corner GOAL 2 v 0 JEANFIELD

As the second half got under way Letham looked to get back into the game and 3 minutes after the restart they won a free kick of their own and took full advantage, a well struck dead ball which saw the keeper unable to reach after a deflection GOAL 2 v 1 LETHAM CC
After conceding so early in the half Jeanfield continued with the game plan and within 2 minutes another well worked throw in from Buchan saw Chris Bell flick it on from the front post and Sam Grieve nip in front of the defender to header past the keeper GOAL 3 v 1 JEANFIELD
Both teams continued to play well, creating a number of chances each, however it was the Swifts who played some really nice football on the day that saw the game out as victors
Manager McCabe will be extremely delighted to see his teams hard work pay off as the Swifts march on to the next round of the Scottish Cup
