Jeanfield Swifts AFC V Strathearn Grove AFC Match report

Six of the best for dominant Swifts

Jeanfield Swifts welcome Strathearn grove to the riverside hoping to continue with their winning ways after last weeks victory over Letham.

After almost conceding in the 1st 30 seconds, Jeanfield got the ball rolling with their 1st after 3 minutes. A ball whipped in from the left side by Scott Phillips, saw sharpshooter veteran striker Chris Bell out muscle the defender before rises above to head home. GOAL JEANFIELD 1 v 0

The Swifts continued to create some good chances and doubled their lead when a long ball flew over the heads of the opposition which saw Sam Grieve calmly get on the end play it over the keeper to slotted it into the back of the net GOAL JEANFIELD 2-0

The pressure continued from the home side and were rewarded with their 3rd just before the break, again the left side was the danger area as the ball was played in for Grieve who swiped the ball across goal for Gaffer Scott to find himself staring at the open goal and easily slotted home GOAL JEANFIELD 3-0

Jeanfield started off slower in the second half with some passes going a stray for the 1st 15 minutes however on 63 mins Sam Grieve took on a lovely pass from Colin Henderson and with an unorthodox volley smashed it passed the keeper for his 2nd of the game and Jeanfield’s 4th GOAL JEANFIELD 4 v 0

Through out spells in the second half Jeanfield seemed to struggle to get and were punished 2 minutes after Sam made it 4 when a lovely free kick saw the ball curl round the wall and in off the post GOAL STRATHEARN 1 v 4

That goal forced Swifts to up their game again and after a couple of substitutions for the home side, the began to dominate again, Josh McClearly came on and almost scored immediately, with the midfield playing elegant passes on to the strikers they pushed for that 5th and eventually after a long throw which was flicked on by Bell which allowed Scott McCabe to pounce and get his second of the day. He rose above the rest to header it home GOAL JEANFIELD 5 v 1

If there was any doubt at this point, it was quickly banished as Josh McCleary chased down a loose ball and was brave enough to stand in front of the keeper who tried to clear, the ball ricocheted off the striker who then calmly slotted home. GOAL 6 v 1

Full time

Scott McCabe and his management team will once again be delighted with his team’s performance. A game in which they dominated through out and although some short spells of poor football the over all performance was excellent
