The Swifts took to the road as they travelled to Paisley to take on Langcraigs AFC
Lee Kelman and Costa lead the touchline as manager McCabe slotted into the centre of midfield
Jeanfield, a team in high spirits after 6 straight victories, took only 9 minutes to break the deadlock. A lovely display of football between Mathieson, McCabe Phillips allowed McCabe to play a delicate pass forward into Grieve who calmly slotted in under the keeper. GOAL JEANFIELD 1 V 0
Jeanfield dominated most of the first half however as half time drew nearer a defensive error from the long ball saw Langcraigs get back in the game with a good strike which found the back of the net . GOAL LANGCRAIGS 1 V 1
HALF TIME 1 V 1
With Jeanfield getting the second half under way it looked as though the half time team talk hit home as they came out attacking hard, looking more like the side we have become accustom to in recent weeks. They were rewarded when the referee deemed the opposition to handle the ball inside the box and gave a penalty. Captain Henderson stepped up but saw his effort go past the post to keep the score level.
Minutes later Sime beat his man and whipped in a delicious ball for Bell but somehow the keeper managed to stop the striker’s tremendous effort at point blank range. Not long after this Bell found himself with another opportunity. Young broke down the left flank and delivered an exquisite ball on to the foot of Bell who this time wouldn’t be denied as he placed it past the keeper to make it 5 in 5 for the veteran striker. GOAL JEANFIELD 2 v 1
From that point onwards Jeanfield never looked back and although Langcraigs continued to work hard and created a couple of chances for themselves, the Swifts looked confident that they could see the game out. This was strengthened when the home side didn’t clear a ball in the box and Pelletier coolly smashed in a volley as he wheeled away in a Robbie Keane fashioned celebration. GOAL JEANFIELD 3 v 1
With 5 minutes remaining on the clock a long ball from goal scorer Pelletier saw Grieve spin away from his man and press towards goal, the defender couldn’t get near him as the gap got bigger and bigger before Grieve was one on one with the keeper to slot it past him for his second and Jeanfield’s 4th of the day. GOAL JEANFIELD 4 v 1
The ref blew his full time whistle and Jeanfield walk off deserved victors. The only disappointment of the game was the forced change made when Chris Bell saw his hamstring go with 15 minutes to go however I’m sure he will be looking to be back next week if he can.
FULL TIME LANGCRAIGS 1 v 4 JEANFIELD
Kelman and Costa will be delighted with the teams over all performance as was Manager Scott McCabe who himself put in a man of the match performance. The Swifts march on to the 3rd round of the Scottish cup with their 7th straight victory.
