Wet conditions and driving rain on Sunday morning for the 2006's home fixture with Crieff. The boys got off to a bad start and within 5 minutes found themselves 3 goals down due to a mixture of good Crieff play and some lax defending. Whilst there may have been a suspicion of offside for the first 2 goals the boys needed to be more switched on.
To their credit though the boys didn't panic and played their way back into the game. A superb free-kick from Callum (his second in a week) cut back the deficit and then a superb lob over the goalkeeper brought us to within a goal at the break.
HT 2-3
The boys came right out of the traps in the 2nd half and nearly levelled when a great run and shot from Brodie went narrowly wide. Unfortunately and against the run of the play with Jeanfield pressing, Crieff extended their lead with a break which caught us napping to give them a 2-goal cushion again. Another free-kick from Callum flashed narrowly wide and both he and Kyle had another couple of chances which just squeaked wide.
Crieff though were always in it and played some good passing football and put the game out of our reach with another goal towards the end with Jeanfield pressing high up the pitch
FT Jeanfield Swifts 2 Crieff 5
In summary, the boys were excellent for 65 mins and will rue the first 5 mins. However the way they came back into it showed fantastic character with some great play in awful conditions.
