Young Swifts beaten in thrilling match

The boys were back at Jeanfield for the first time in a number of weeks to play Letham Tangerines. The game started after an immaculately observed minutes silence and the boys were in lead within the first minute. A low shot from Callum finding the net. The Tangies came back into it very quickly and put us under lot of pressure and equalized and then took the lead with 2 quick goals. The boys though kept going and with around 10 minutes of the first half remaining drew level when a curling shot from Matthew looped over the GK. As half time approached we took the lead when a GK clearance was met by Kyle and from distance lobbed the ball straight back into the net. ⚽

As expected from one of the stronger sides in the league, the Tangies came out the traps and put us under pressure which was rewarded with an equalizer. At 3-3 a pivotal moment when a super corner from Callum was met by Sonny but unfortunately his diving header came crashing off the upright. The Tangies took advantage of this let off and proceeded to take the lead midway through. The boys though weren't out of it and restored parity when a poor clearance fell to Callum and from 20 yards he slotted the ball home. 4-4. Game ebbed and flowed at both ends and with 10 mins to go the Tangies were given a free kick in front of goal. A neat free-kick with deflected help from the wall plopped into the net to give the Tangies the lead. In the dying minutes with the boys pushing for the equaliser the Tangies added to their lead twice with breakaways to give the scoreline a more flattering look for them.⚽

The boys are disappointed after this but shouldn't be as they showed tremendous character to continually battle back and play some good pressing football. Yes, there are learnings from key areas but that's part of the development. ?⚽

Man of the Match was Cammy ( aka "The Cat" ?). He had a great game today with some superb agile saves and looked comfortable in his distribution and postioning. Well done Cammy, superb display today
