Two first goals at the end of the first half and another two minutes from the end of the second half gave Beth Allen her hat trick in a convincing win by Jeanfield Swifts U13s away to Dryburgh 12s today.
Taking a few minutes to come to terms with the lumps and bumps of the Lochee Park pitch, the girls settled down on 10 minutes when Abbie Ferguson put away a great finish after a mesmerising run. Three minutes later, Katie Duthie was on hand to drive home from a fabulous assist by Eilidh Davies.
Taking a kick to the achilles soon after, however, Katie's game to a premature end and she was replaced by Beth Allen. Within a few more minutes, Beth had scored the first of her morning's three goals, and then hit the second on the cusp of half-time.
In the second half the home team threw bodies behind the ball and Jeanfield found it hard to make space, but their pressure told when an OG was scored on 40 minutes. As the match drew to a close, the girls showed they were completely free of last week's frustrations and Beth snatched a late third to finish off her hat trick.
All in all a satisfying morning for the girls, with some lovely skills on show from both sides, especially Abbie Ferguson from Jeanfield. It was also great to see the return of both Amelia Macrae in goal (and another clean sheet!) and a great cameo from Sky Steel, who were both extremely glad to blow away the cobwebs after a number of weeks' injury-enforced lay-offs.
