Foote Looking Forward to New Role

Head Coach Jason McCrindle was delighted last night to confirm the appointment of Rebecca Foote as vice-captain. Rebecca will support captain Jade McDonald.

Jason explained "it was something Rebecca and I spoke about at the start of the season. It was a matter of when not if she accepted the role. She has been great for me on and off the pitch and is a real role model for all our younger girls coming through. She will work closely with Jade who has been an excellent captain for me. The work Jade does on the park is excellent but there's lots Jade does behind the scenes that goes unnoticed by others and I'm looking forward to working with them both".

Rebecca was already looking forward to starting "Everyone has a role on the pitch to ensure we are helping everyone and working for each other. However, it is a privilege to have been given the opportunity to step up and take more responsibly for my team on and off the pitch. I'm looking forward to working with Jade, who is experienced in leading the team for a couple of seasons now and continues to do a great job!"

Having been the captain at Jeanfield for the past 4 years I have had so many highs and had the opportunity to work with many players, and seeing them develop and progress into great players and leaders. Rebecca has worked so hard as a player throughout her time at Jeanfield coming back from injury committed to the training in all aspects and working with the younger players. I am really looking forward to working with Rebecca I think the step up and responsibility is exactly what she needs and the team! Together we will continue to work hard and help Jason and the team to achieve our targets".

General Manager Steve Grossi echoed McCrindle's comments. "Rebecca and Jade will make a great team. Jade has great experience, is now one of our longest-serving players and as recently as Sunday reminded us all of what a great leader she is. Rebecca is a great choice too. She is a young player who is so dedicated to her football and is always looking to improve on every aspect of her game. Jason giving her the role is another step in doing that as it gives her more responsibility as a player.
