Swifts bring Fettes on Board

Jeanfield Swifts Ladies are delighted to announce the appointment of John Fettes as Assistant Manager. John will work directly with Head Coach Jason McCrindle as the side prepare for another challenging season in SWPL2 2018. Jason commented "after another excellent season it was clear to myself and Steve that we needed to recruit another experienced coach in order to continue to develop our players. The players through their performances and their desire to improve have placed demands on myself and the club this season, and we have responded in recruiting a coach I know will support, develop and challenge them. I've locked horns with John as a player and a coach in the East of Scotland League and SWF Scottish Cup.... so know him well and am really looking forward to working with him".

John didn't disclose who came out on top in the above encounters but was equally enthused about the challenge ahead. "I've had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Raith Rovers. The club were very supportive of me and I feel we made great strides as a team and a club, and I'm sure this will continue and I will be keeping touch. I would like to thank them for the opportunities they gave me and for the players commitment to what we were trying to do. However the opportunity to work in SWPL2 was one that ultimately I feel I couldn't turn down. Jeanfield are a great club who have now consolidated themselves in SWPL, and they've done that at the same time as bringing through their own youth players. I've seen the team in action and like the way they set up and really can't wait to get started".

General Manager Steve Grossi concluded "I'm delighted that we've managed to attract John to the club. He has done a lot of great work at Raith Rovers and with his attitude to developing players we feel there is an excellent fit - I also like the fact that he is a bad loser ! The work Jason has done here is incredible and bringing John in shows our commitment to Jason and squad and our desire to continue to improve and develop the club. Can I also put on record my thanks to Raith Rovers for conducting matters professionally and amicably".
