New Jeanfield development side connects the youth section to the first team.

Now, to give our young players the best platform to reach the Senior men’s game, we are delighted to announce a new Development side which connects our youth section with our First team.

The last few years has seen Jeanfield Swifts Community Club grow successful youth sections on both the mens and ladies side of the game.

The club already provides playing and training opportunities from the soccer school age right through to the adult game. Last season the first team made a successful transition to Senior Football in the East of Scotland league.

Now, to give our young players the best platform to reach the Senior men’s game, we are delighted to announce a new Development side which connects our youth section with our First team.

The Development side will be run by a new management team and will and select players from our two 19’s team and our 17’s side.

Ex-Dundee United youth coach, Iain Wilkie, will lead the new development team and will be assisted by Greg Cruickshank and ex-Jeanfield player Chris Dodd.

The squad will train fortnightly and will play development games once a month. The team will also represent Jeanfield in the U18’s Scottish Cup.

We are lucky to have secured a great management team who complement each other really well. Iain has competed at a high level winning the Scottish Junior Cup and representing many local clubs, latterly he’s been a pro-youth coach at Dundee United. Greg is on the path to completing his UEFA B licence as his next step in his coaching journey. Chris is currently playing with Kelty Hearts and has senior playing experience that can only benefit our young players.

The management team will be tasked with developing players that can make the step up to the first team in the next 12-18th months and this move represents a hugely exciting opportunity for all the young players at the club.
