Sean Fleming signed for Jeanfield in the summer of 2014 moving from Kinnoull to the Riverside who were now managed by his former manager Gavin Price.
Flem started his career at Dundee United and had loan spells with Albion Rovers and Peterhead before moving on a permanent deal to Montrose. Injuries hurt his time there ans after a short spell with Bankfoot he moved to Kinnoull in 2010.
When he left Tulloch Park for the Riverside he was the club captain but arrived at the Riverside at his peak and for the next 3 plus seasons was outstanding. A cultured left back, his use of the ball was excellent and he hated losing, even in training.
Known as "Victor" he hated doing the runs in training and when he was not involved he was vocal from the sidelines helping the coaching staff out numerous times.
A great pro Flem will be remembered at the club and is always welcome and it would be great to have him involved with the club once more.
POSITION - Left Back
PREVIOUS CLUBS – Dundee United, Peterhead, Albion Rovers, Montrose, Bankfoot, Kinnoull, Jeanfield
WHICH TEAM DO YOU SUPPORT – St Johnstone
WHO IS THE BEST PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – Johnny Russell, he had everything you want in a striker and worked so hard.
BIGGEST JOKER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – David Goodwillie, you were never safe. Looking back, it was actually ridiculous some of the things that used to happen. Stevie McManus comes a very close second!
MOST INTELLIGENT PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? – Ross Gunnion. Very clever but also able to sound convincing even when he wasn’t confident – you couldn’t tell the difference!
LEAST INTELLIGENT PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH AND WHY? - There have been a few! David “Chucky” Carr would probably edge it. If we had to do a new training drill he really struggled. It would take him almost the entire drill to get it right.
MOST INJURED PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH? – I’ve had a few myself but Chris Anton always had a niggle here or there so I’d probably say him. Neil Gardiner deserves a mention, he used to get the physio on in every game for one reason or another.
FUNNIEST FOOTBALL STORY FROM YOUR CAREER? – Keeping it clean. At Kinnoull, we were playing away (I think it was Arniston) and we were 1-0 up but our manager Gav Price wasn’t happy at how we were playing. He was marching up and down the sideline and that meant we were in for a roasting at half time. Gav is a big imposing guy so we were a bit nervous for what was to come. He storms into the changing room with steam coming out of his ears and makes a beeline for the treatment table that’s in the middle of the room. He tries to flip it over in rage but it turns out its bolted to the ground! That didn’t put Gav off though - he struggled with it and got even more angry! The whole team talk had lost its edge and we were all sat trying to keep our laughter in.
DIRTIEST PLAYER YOU HAVE PLAYED WITH OR AGAINST? GIVE A REASON WHY -Against - Calum Watson at Montrose Roselea was horrible. Strong, threw elbows and even a headbutt every now and then. For – Mark Gordon, lets just say you wanted him in your team rather than against you.
3 CELEBS YOU WOULD INVITE FOR DINNER – David Beckham, Ricky Gervais and Billy Connolly
CRAZIEST GAFFER YOU HAVE PLAYED UNDER AND A REASON WHY? – Andy Heggie, just on a different planet. He had us doing sprints on an iced over pitch and then made us play heady tennis on the same pitch……..with no net.
WORST MOMENT IN FOOTBALL? – – Losing a cup final with Jeanfield (GA Cup) and Kinnoull (East of Scotland) were the worst as a group. Individually, I remember going to Bankfoot on loan from Montrose as I was struggling to get over a series of back/hamstring injuries. I played a couple of games and felt good and thought I was getting back to where I needed to be. We were doing some short sprints at the end of training and my hamstring went again. At that point I felt I’d never get back to playing at any level. That’s where my hatred for running drills started!!
BEST MOMENT IN FOOTBALL? – – Winning the Premier League with Jeanfield. The previous season had been a fairly poor one and nobody gave us a chance for the following season. The squad of players & backroom staff we got together for that season was special. Having my old man as part of the group was the icing on the cake.
