Interview with the Gaffer

Lee Kelman
- Chris Mathews

With last weekend fixture list seeing the Swifts having a free week we took some time out to ask the Gaffer a few questions.

What was your favourite moment from last season?

Last season there was a lot of good things on and off the park that happened. The highlight for me was another brilliant Scottish cup run with an amazing bus trips. There was also a couple of really cracking performances especially against Ratho athletic where we came back from 1 down to win 2-1. What made that stand out was having a few u19 players playing a big part in that game.

Are you happy with your pre season and already for the start of competitive fixtures?

Pre season could have been better games wise. I don't feel we have played enough games through no fault of our own, but the boys attitudes and effort in training hasn't changed, they always give 100%. Now with us getting back in the gym with Vitalityme the fitness will kick on again. The first league game boys will be raring to and hopefully start with a win.

Who stood out for you in Preseason?

Few boys have came back looking well. Dan Brown looking fitter than he's ever been and new signing Reece has slotted in very well. I think he will be a big player for us this season.

Any transfers this season, in or out?

We lost a couple of players from last season, but added to the squad as well and with the connection with the u19s squad is looking very good

What are your objectives for this season?

Every team at the start of the season wants to improve on what they achieved the season before. This year would be looking to close the gap on the top of the league. We know it will be a challenge but the quality we have in the squad and what we have added dont see why we can't. A cup would also be great achievement for the team.

What is the biggest thing you are looking forward to this season?

Just looking forward to getting playing games again, should be a couple of games that the players will be looking forward too especially.

What are your plans for winter training this year?

Really looking forward to getting back working with tammy at Vitalityme again at the new all strong gym who kindly have sponsored us for this season. We also have Bertha park through the week due to the hard work of community club and committee. I think we are really lucky in the current climate.

How are you finding the new covid rules?

The covid rules that are in place insure we can get back playing and keeping everyone safe as we can. Hopefully we can start to see the regular faces who come to watch coming back sooner rather than later.
