Swift’s all set for the states

Swift’s all set for the states

Two young Jeanfield players travel to the US this week for soccer scholarships.

It’s a big week this week for two players at the club who head over the pond to begin their Soccer scholarships at colleges in the USA.

Regan (Reg) McLaren from the first team will study in Georgia at Thomas University in Thomasville and will play for the men’s soccer team of the TU Hawks.

Jack Ridley of the under 20’s heads to Missouri to study at East Central College and will play for the East Central Falcons.

Both players will experience first-class facilities and the opportunity to play and train every day. Both their seasons begin in a matter of weeks and they are both looking forward to the challenge.

Regan said - ‘this a great opportunity for both Jack and me and we’re excited for what will be a great and totally new experience. It’s going to be hard work from the minute we land as pre- season will be getting underway and that will help us both settle in quickly. I'd like to thank everyone at Jeanfield who has helped me prepare for this move over the years.’

Jack added ‘Reg and I both want to challenge ourselves and this chance was not to be missed. I've loved every minute of my time at Jeanfield and am very grateful to all the coaches and all the boys, I'll be following the club closely from US. I can’t wait to get started now over there and to meet my new teammates now.’

Logan McConnachie head coach of the first team has coached both players, "Jack is a player with great potential and I know his determination and eye for goal will stand him in good stead. Reg will most definitely settle in quickly but more importantly, his footballing ability will take care of itself, he has come back this summer in great condition - looking sharp and ready for the challenge ahead. His strong, direct style will be a big plus for the Nighthawks and as we have, they'll enjoy the stories of his most recent adventures and the impromptu songs from his back catalogue!

The club wishes both players the best of luck in their next steps and looks forward to following their progress and success. Good luck boys.
