History beckons for Swifts under the Friday night lights

We are overwhelmed and delighted with the backing we have had this season and we can’t wait to see everyone at the game.
- Robbie Holden, Manager

After an incredible 6 nil victory at home against Elgin in the previous round, Jeanfield travel West this week for a mouthwatering round three Scottish Cup tie, against Clyde at New Douglas Park.

The Swifts followed up the famous cup win with league victories against Sauchie and Haddington scoring another seven goals in the process and approach Friday’s match in form and with confidence. As always, the manager’s preparation is thorough, so the squad are well aware of the challenge of facing an opponent who are looking to kick start their season.

In the previous round, the Bully Wee squeaked past East of Scotland side Musselburgh, by the odd goal, in extra time. Then caretaker manager Chris Millar has since left the club to be replaced by the storied and experienced Ian McCall.

Clyde’s league form sees them at the foot of the League two table, below Elgin. In the new manager’s first match last weekend they suffered a 4 nil home defeat to East Fife but they will be hoping the cup may provide them some respite.

A sizeable visiting support will of course be hoping otherwise and dreaming of another famous victory. With hundreds of supporters making the journey west it promises to be a night to remember regardless of the result.

The manager, Robbie Holden sent a message for the travelling support;

“We are overwhelmed and delighted with the backing we have had this season and we can’t wait to see everyone at the game. We are going into the game in a good run of form and we want to put on a performance for everyone who is making the trip and hopefully make it another historic night for the club”

That backing will be vital for Robbie and the team and whilst the supporters buses may be full, there are still tickets available for the away section which can be purchased direct from Clyde here - https://bit.ly/3sVkYYe

With a fit squad and a forward line in fine form, the match has all the makings of another classic cup encounter, so all are welcome to get along and support the team on Friday.
