Things didn’t start well for Swifts and after a good start from Dunfermline they got their reward when a ball was played through from the midfield and the attacker finished brilliantly with a lob over Megan Sidey. Swifts then had to deal with a number of attacks and corners that were defended well. Swifts didn’t really get going in the first 20 minutes but did create some half chances with Kayleigh Fowler being at the heart of these breaks. By this point both sides were making plenty changes in a bid to ensure the players were fresh in what was a hot a humid day.
Swifts then grew into the game and began to control proceedings. Swifts then found a route back into the game when Rachel Wolecki picked up the ball 30 yards from goal, she then jinked inside the defender and blasted the ball into the net.
Swifts threatened to take a lead into the break when Hannah Clark broke through the Dunfermline backline, rounded the keeper but saw her shot hit the post from the tight angle. Mhairi Morrison also had a good chance when she created space just inside the box but she sent the ball straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
HT: 1-1
Swifts came out from the break with their tails up and managed to win themselves a corner. Rachel Wolecki was the taker and she somehow managed to send the ball directly into the net at the back post. It went from strength to strength for Swifts who were now in complete control and won themselves another corner. Leah Fleming was the taker on this occasion and she sent an excellent ball into the back post for Rachel Wolecki who rose well to head the ball back across goal where Hannah Clark was and the inform striker unleashed a terrific bicycle kick into the bottom corner.
Time wore on with little clear cut chances being created by either side. But with 10 minutes to play Niamh Irvine picked the ball up 30 yards from goal and sent a powerful effort into the roof of the net to ensure the victory for Swifts. This was a special moment for Niamh as it was her for first goal for Jeanfield, and her teammates recognised this with great scenes of celebration.
The end of the game saw both sides tire with Dunfermline probably finishing slightly stronger but their attacks led to little danger.
FT: 4-1
This was a great win for Swifts against a side who were yet to drop a point all season. The game was played in good spirit by both sides and both can look forward to semi-final ties after Dunfermline secured 2nd place in the group. Swifts return to league action next week with a home game against Monifieth.
