With just a point needed from 2 games, Swifts were determined to get the right result. Despite this it was Dunfermline who started the brighter but Swifts eventually made inroads into Dunfermline’s physical and organised defence. Tara came close twice before Ellie just failed to hit the target. With a slight knock Leona made way for Mhairi allowing Jess to drop back into midfield. Megan made a fabulous close range save after 21 minutes but despite an initial great save couldn’t stop Dunfermline taking the lead following slack play at the back from the usually solid Jeanfield back line.

Rachel cracked a shot off the cross bar and Swifts were unable to take advantage of some well won corners. Lisa came on for Olivia after 25 mins and linked well with midfield and her forwards. Swifts were struggling to make the most of most of the possession and felt hard done by when Hannah was felled in the box by Dunfermline’s keeper but no penalty was given. Hannah hit the post minutes later and despite good play Swifts couldn’t get on level terms before half time.

HT: 0-1

Swifts started the 2nd half in more determined mood after strong direction from the coaches at HT. Eve was on at RB for Ciara who’d taken a knock and showed good controlled play to back up her good performance from the previous week. Lisa put in a great ball that nobody could get onto then Rachel fired just off target. Dunfermline were marking well but Mhairi was showing good strength to keep the ball alive and drive forward well. Hannah had been marked out of the game and keen to release her pace, Lisa made way for Sheyenne to move up front with Hannah taking up the left wing position 10 mins into the half. Sheyenne then nearly got the breakthrough. Swifts were controlling play now but Dunfermline were still staying strong and organised at the back whilst threatening when in attack. Swifts had another penalty shout denied and Leah had a rasper of a shot saved well. Rachel saw one free kick go off target but another midway through the half was beautifully dispatched into the net for another special goal from the talented young player. Swifts had the better of the remaining game but couldn’t find the net.

As the FT whistle blew, Swifts celebrated as did Dunfermline who’ve been on a bad run recently and clearly didn’t want to finish the season with a loss.

With a game to go, Swifts have wrapped up the East League title adding it to the League cup they won earlier in the season. Next week they travel to Montrose where they will get their hands on the silverware.
