Depleted but not Defeated

Swifts travelled to Crieff with key players missing but were determined to make right their lost to Strathearn Grove in their last game.

Jeanfield started off strong moving the ball about well on a very bobbly pitch. The Swifts had a couple of chances but struggled to hit the target. On the 30th minute Bell, in his new role as a midfield dynamo slid the ball wide to Phillips who launched in a cross. McCleary who looked like he pushed the defender out of the way couldn’t make it and the ball landed at Grieve’s feet. Grieve’s shot was low and hard only 5 yards out however was going wide of the opposite post. Luckily for the Swifts, dogged McCabe bundled the ball into the net GOAL 1-0 Jeanfield

The Grove were angry because of the push and then what they believe to be an offside goal. Jeanfield remained calm and composed to see out the first half 1-0 up.

Assistant manager Kelman asked for more of the same in the second half and the Swifts answered.

McCleary and Grieve both had a couple of chances each but were unable to double their lead. The most notable was when Grieve found himself 1on1 with the keeper but his shot was saved by the foot of the Groves stopper.

Strathearn didn’t trouble Jeanfield for 88 minutes until they found themselves in the box from a deflection. The Swifts keeper was ready when called upon and pounced on the striker with a brave and brilliant save.

Jeanfield started to in down the clock in the dying seconds taking the ball to the corner much to the Groves displeasure. With a shout of this is only Ammie football the final whistle went and the Swifts celebrated the 3 points with a loud roar.

McCabe ⚽️

This was a must win game against a tricky opponent with a weakened team but the Swifts showed heart and desire for the win. This game also showed the depth of their squad and ability this season.

Man of the Match
Kris Sime

Vice Captain Kris Sime stood in for missing Mark Hope in the centre of defence and had his best game so far this season.

A big congratulations to former Swift Jason Henderson on his marriage
