There have been a few changes at Jeanfield over the Preseason, notably the departure of Lee Kelman and the introduction of Jimmy Carle. With new management brings new philosophy and players. Good news was 8 of the starting 11 joined before new management arrived with Jimmy adding Stuart, Ally and Billy to make up his first competitive starting 11. Unfortunately we were also missing 8 key players for this game meaning we had to shift a few things about and take a gamble on an injured player.

The first half was a scrappy affair as both teams battled it out with nothing really separating the teams. Unfortunately Fraser Morrison who was nursing a hamstring injury prior to kick off pulled up near the end of the first half. He was replaced by Dan Brown.

The second half started as the first finished with both teams slugging it out. Vale began getting the upper hand on the 50th minute and after a good ball down their right their player whipped in a dangerous cross which ended up in our own net from a Dan Brown og.

The Swifts couldn't break down the well drilled Vale. On the 60th minute the Vale centre half headed a 40 yard through ball over the top and the striker hit a nice half volley past Thomas Morrow.

Jeanfield pushed in an attempt to try and get a goal back but the Vale wall stood strong. After 70 minutes Dan Brown launched a long throw into the box and Billy Carle found space to smash home a half volley on the swivel.

The Swifts kept putting the ball into the box in an attempt to equalise but Vale managed to hold out. Frustrations started to creep in and Ali Abboud took a booking late on.

This wasn't the start Jeanfield was looking for but there were promising signs.
