The first game of the New Year finally arrived and after a month of no football the Swifts were miles off the pace.

Jeanfield's attacks in the first 20 minutes didn't really concern St.Johns and their defence cleared up every attack. It was St.Johns that took the lead on the 29th minute after a mix up with the Swifts defence and keeper allowing the striker a free chance on goal which he took. Jeanfield raised their game slightly after this wake up call and on the 39th minute after a couple of attempts at goal and a great cross the St.Johns defender scored an O.G. The Swifts kept pushing but couldn't get another before the half.

The Jeanfield Gaffer had seen enough in the first 45 and decided to make 2 changes and it seemed to work. 5 mins into the second half Jeanfield started controlling the game and scored after A.Abboud headed home a K.Sime cross. St.Johns were not done and took back control of the game. On the 74th minute a St.Johns cross to the back post was met with a volley to equalise. With the game looking likely to end in a draw up stepped the Swifts top scorer J.Jardine on the 80th minute to take the lead with a nice shot that beat the keeper. St.Johns weren't done and went all out attack but never really troubled the keeper until the 88th minute the St.Johns player jinked one way which created an open goal and his shot was saved from a wonder save from the Swifts keeper and basically won Jeanfield the game.
