

On the back of last week's slow start in the Ashleigh cup the Swifts went into Saturdays league game looking to rectify and stay within touching distance of the Vale. Due to loads of injuries, 4 trialist were added to the squad which included 2 under 17 Jeanfield players.
It was the Jeany Cafu (R.Shillan) who started off the scoring on the 4th minute with a wonderful cross field ball that B.Potter ran onto before finding J.Jardine. The inform striker played it over the keepers head to take the lead. Jeanfield missed numerous chances until the 27th minute when S.Phillips header found A.Abboud who netted to make it 2-0. 6 minutes later, A.Abboud slid through trialist B.Ayton who skipped past keeper and defend to score into an empty net. A minute later K.Mitchel stole the ball, made a mazey run and played ball into A.Abboud who netted for his brace. As the first half came to an end Jeanfield were left scratching their heads as to why it wasn't 8-0 due to squandered chances.
Half time message was get more clinical and don't concede. On the 51st minute after some great football, sharp passing B.Ayton won a penalty that A.Abboud converted for his hatrick. On the 57th minute the Jeany Cafu was at it again with a brilliant run down the wing and whipping in a ball that found B.Potter. His header knocked back across goal and J.Jardine netted for his brace. Jeanfield made 4 changes seeing both youth players added to the game. The changes slowed the goal scoring down and it wasn't until the 80th minute when substitute R.O'Connor headed home a R.Shillan cross from a yard out.
