Match Report - Jeanfield Swifts AFC v Kettins AFC

Jeanfield welcomed Kettins to the Riverside where the Swifts were intent to make a statement and kick start their season.

The game for the first 10 minutes was end to end and a real battle. Kettins took the lead when a cross looped over the Jeanfield keeper and was headed home from close range. Both teams continued to battle and both created chances. On the 30th minute Jeanfield played the ball forward to K.Mitchell who looked up and hit a shot from 40 yards out which beat the keeper, unfortunately for him it hit the post and didn't go in. Fortunately for the Swifts it landed at the feet of B.Carle. There was only going to be one outcome from 5 yards out and the equaliser seemed to lift everyone's spirit. The remainder of the half was again a continual battle with the 18 year old Swift, J.Neary standing out as he was getting stuck right in.

Jeanfield came out in the second half in high spirits and with a determinated look about them. Something that was lacking in previous matches.
Early on with some great play J.Neary found himself through on goal but his shot just went wide. On the 60th minute Jeanfield made it 2-1 when R.Shilian's pass was missed by the Kettins defender putting B.Carle through on goal. 1on1 with the keeper B.Carle scored. Kettins attempted to get the equaliser but the Jeanfield defence were solid and mopped up every attack. On the 75th minute a brilliant through ball to A.Abboud had him through on goal as the defender brought him down. With it being last man it would have been a red card but the Ref decided no foul. On the 80th minute a brilliant corner was whipped in, flicked on from R.Shilian and S.Buchan calmly smashed home from 5 yards out. Much to the delight of all the fans. With 90 minutes complete the ref gave 5 minutes of extra time. On the 92nd minute Kettins pulled one back when their freekick was passed to the edge of the box and shot found the net. Jeanfield had 3 minutes to secure the 3 points and made sure they did.
