Match Report - Jeanfield Swifts AFC v Cannon Fodder AFC

In the 3rd round of the North of Tay Cup, Jeanfield Swifts hosted Cannon Fodder at the Riverside. Anticipating a challenging game against a determined opponent, the Swifts were prepared for a tough battle.

From the onset, Cannon Fodder lived up to their reputation, displaying persistent fouling and aggression in their tackles. Surprisingly, despite their physical play, the Dundee referee refrained from issuing any cards in the first half.

In the 29th minute, following yet another cynical foul, Jeanfield earned a free kick roughly 30 yards out, offering a promising angle for an inswinging delivery. S. Phillips delivered a dangerous ball into the box, finding A. Abboud who skillfully flicked it over the towering goalkeeper's head to open the scoring.

Continuing to withstand pressure, Jeanfield's defense held firm. In the 38th minute, an interception on the Swifts' right flank by A. Phillips led to a brilliant through ball to B. Carle. Outpacing the goalkeeper, Carle expertly slotted the ball off the post and into the net from 40 yards out, doubling Jeanfield's lead.

Despite an opportunity for Jeanfield to extend their lead before halftime, the Cannon Fodder goalkeeper made a remarkable save from close range.

The second half saw Cannon Fodder pressing for an equaliser but failing to produce any significant chances. Jeanfield's defense remained resolute, thwarting their opponent's attempts. The half was marred by a series of fouls, disrupting the flow of the game.

Despite Cannon Fodder's efforts, they were unable to capitalise, ultimately leaving empty-handed (with the exception of our match ball) as Jeanfield emerged victorious with a 2-0 win.
