Match Report - St.Johns AFC v Jeanfield Swifts AFC

Jeanfield made the short journey down Balhousie Street to face St. Johns AFC in the league, with memories of their previous 3-3 draw lingering. Despite a few injuries, Jeanfield bolstered their squad by bringing in some talented youngsters from the U18s team, who had been training with the squad in recent weeks.

In the second half, against the flow of the game, St. Johns' striker found space in front of goal in the 61st minute, his shot was fumbled and the striker was first to react to lob the ball over the keeper.

Around the 70th minute mark, a second dangerous tackle on A. Phillips threatened to disrupt the match further. However, this seemed to galvanise Jeanfield, who equalised in the 81st minute from a corner, with B. Carle heading home after a well-executed play involving A. Phillips.

Just a minute later, St. Johns conceded again after losing possession from the kickoff, as A. Phillips provided a precise through ball to B. Carle, who calmly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.

With only eight minutes remaining, plus injury time, Jeanfield found themselves unexpectedly pegged back by a long-range shot from St. Johns that dipped over the keeper's head for the equaliser.

Despite pushing for a late winner, Jeanfield was unable to capitalise on their chances, and the referee ended the match after only two minutes of added time.
