After a lengthy break from league action (since October 26th) Jeanfield were exited for the match and with the Riverside pitch waterlogged, the they relocated their match to the North Inch Campus Astro.
It was Burrelton who struck first in the 9th minute when a quick corner caught the Jeanfield defence off guard, allowing the Burrelton centre-half a free header to open the scoring.
However, the lead was short-lived. Just five minutes later, Jeanfield keeper J. Welch launched a long kick that the Burrelton defence failed to deal with. J. Jardine pounced on the opportunity, lobbing the keeper with a sublime finish to level the score.
In the 24th minute, Jeanfield took the lead when A. Philips delivered a pinpoint corner that found A. Abboud, who powered his header into the back of the net.
Jeanfield kept up the pressure, and in the 34th minute, another dangerous A. Philips corner found A. Abboud, whose close-range strike rattled the crossbar. The rebound fell perfectly for J. Jardine, who calmly slotted home for his second of the match.
Right before halftime, Jeanfield struck again. In the 45th minute, A. Philips whipped in yet another precise corner, this time landing at the feet of K. Sime, who tapped it in on the line to give Jeanfield a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the break.
Jeanfield wasted no time adding to their tally in the second half. In the 49th minute, right-back R. Shillan—dubbed the "Jeany Cafu"—threaded a superb through ball into the path of A. Philips. Philips took it in stride and coolly finished past the keeper.
Just moments later, in the 51st minute, Jeanfield were awarded a penalty after L. Bloomer’s clever reverse no-look pass found A. Abboud, who was brought down in the box. Abboud stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, grabbing his second of the match.
Abboud wasn’t done yet. In the 53rd minute, L. Bloomer whipped in a dangerous cross that Abboud expertly flicked past the keeper, completing his hat-trick and extending Jeanfield’s lead to 7-1.
With a comfortable cushion, Jeanfield made several changes, including a slight formation shift, allowing different players to gain minutes. Both sides created chances in the closing stages, but neither could find the net again.
