Jeanfield made the short trip up the A9 to face local rivals Luncarty AFC in the Ashleigh Cup quarter-final, with a place in the semi-final against Bridgeton AFC on 17th May at stake.
The game started cautiously, with both sides taking time to settle. Luncarty created the better early chances, their striker twice threatening the opener—first when he was brought down just outside the box after turning a defender, and then on 23 minutes when he broke through one-on-one, only to be denied by a brilliant save from J. Welch.
Jeanfield thought they had a chance of their own just before the break when their striker went down in the box under pressure, but the referee judged it to be simulation and issued a booking.
A fired-up Jeanfield emerged for the second half and took control of the match. Just four minutes after the restart, B. Potter delivered a high cross that found A. Abboud unmarked—his looping header beating the keeper and nestling in at the back post.
On 57 minutes, A. Phillips was fouled just outside the area. R. Shilian stepped up and curled in a superb free-kick, no doubt inspired by a certain video of his idol, C. Mathews.
Jeanfield's dominance continued as they added a third in the 73rd minute. Another cross from B. Potter, this time from deeper, was met by K. Brown at the back post, who headed home confidently.
The result was sealed just four minutes later. K. Brown was again involved, sending a low cross into the box. A mix-up between the Luncarty keeper and defender ended with the latter turning the ball into his own net.
A strong second-half display sees Jeanfield march into the semi-finals with a 4–0 win.
