Jeanfield took on St. Johns for the sixth time this season in the Perth & District Cup Final. Following their last encounter, where St. Johns narrowly lost 2-1, they came into the final believing they could match up. But Jeanfield had other ideas. With two trophies already secured and 4 more still up for grabs, including a potential third consecutive Perth & District Cup title, Jeanfield were determined to make a statement.
Right from the start, Jeanfield asserted their dominance, controlling possession and showing strength in defence—a theme that carried through the entire match.
In the 22nd minute, K. Brown made a brilliant run down the right flank, kept the ball in play and fired a low cross into the box. After a couple of deflections, A. Abboud set up J. Howie, who smashed the ball into the net to open the scoring.
As the first half neared its end, Jeanfield doubled their lead. In the 42nd minute, R. Shillan delivered a dangerous cross, and K. Mitchell showed great determination to reach the ball first, flicking it into the far post from the front.
The second half began much like the first, with Jeanfield in control. In the 52nd minute, Mitchell laid the ball off to A. Philips, who beat two defenders with a brilliant bit of skill before placing a precise shot into the bottom left corner from just outside the box.
The goals kept coming. In the 79th minute, A. Ali broke through the defence and played in J. Jardine for a simple tap-in.
Just into stoppage time, in the 92nd minute, K. Brown went through on goal, forcing a save from the keeper, only for B. Calderwood to follow up and smash the ball home.
A minute later, S. Philips slipped in Calderwood again, who drove forward and rifled in his second of the night.
At full-time, Jeanfield were crowned champions with a resounding victory, marking six wins from six over St. Johns this season and an aggregate scoreline of 30 goals to 5.
