Jeanfield faced St. Johns in the final game of a relentless season, contesting the Presidents Cup Final—marking their 13th match in just 35 days. With several key injuries, a few adjustments were necessary, but the team remained focused on a historic sixth trophy of the campaign.
The Swifts came flying out of the blocks and took an early lead just five minutes in. A sharp ball into B. Potter saw him deliver a low cross into the box, where K. Brown was on hand to steer it towards the back post and in.
Jeanfield continued to dominate possession and carve out chances, pinning St. Johns deep into their own half. Despite a series of efforts going wide, over the bar, or being stopped by some inspired goalkeeping, the home side looked firmly in control. St. Johns offered little in response, struggling to cope with Jeanfield’s intensity in midfield and the relentless pressure on their back line. It could easily have been five or six by the break.
In the 37th minute, the breakthrough finally came again. K. Brown clipped a delicate ball over the top to A. Abboud, who calmly raced through and lofted a classy chip over the keeper. The ball kissed the underside of the bar before nestling in the net—2-0 to Jeanfield.
The second half saw more of the same as Jeanfield continued to attack in waves, searching for a third. As St. Johns began to tire, they resorted to a series of fouls, one particularly reckless. Yet Jeanfield stayed composed, knowing the trophy was within reach.
In the closing moments, St. Johns registered their only real chance—a one-on-one opportunity—but J. Welch stood firm, making a fine save to preserve the clean sheet. Jeanfield had a couple more chances to extend the lead but couldn’t convert. At the final whistle, it didn’t matter—the Swifts were crowned Presidents Cup champions, completing an incredible clean sweep of all six Perthshire trophies.
