Jeanfield welcomed Carnoustie to the Riverside for the Scottish Cup second round replay, after the first encounter in Carnoustie ended 1-1.

The Swifts started brightly, dominating the opening 15 minutes with some sharp, attacking football and creating a couple of half chances. Their early pressure paid off in the 16th minute when a blocked shot from K. Brown fell kindly to R. Gillies, who made no mistake – firing high into the empty net.

Jeanfield continued to look comfortable for the remainder of the first half, controlling possession and limiting Carnoustie to very little going forward. The Swifts’ keeper remained untested as the defence stood firm.

Just a minute into the second half, Jeanfield doubled their advantage. An inswinging corner from R. Shillan found J. Howie at the front post, who forced the ball home to make it 2–0.

The remainder of the match saw both sides struggle to find rhythm. Jeanfield were wasteful in possession at times, while Carnoustie only managed one late effort, comfortably dealt with by the Swifts keeper.
