Jeanfield travelled to Methven to take on Bertha Park AFC in the second round of the North of Tay Cup and delivered a dominant performance from start to finish.
The visitors made an immediate impact just two minutes in when B.Calderwood whipped in a pinpoint cross for A.Abboud, who headed home to make it 1–0.
Only seven minutes later, Calderwood was again involved, laying the ball off in the box for R. Gillies, who smashed it into the top corner for 2–0.
At the 16-minute mark, M.Hunter threaded a perfect through ball to Gillies, who calmly slotted it into the opposite corner to put Jeanfield three up.
A fourth came in the 25th minute when R. Shillan’s cross broke kindly to Hunter, who rifled it home.
Jeanfield added a fifth just six minutes later when A. Hay’s ball into the box rebounded off the post, hit the Bertha Park keeper, and rolled over the line for an unfortunate own goal.
M. Hunter continued to pull the strings in midfield, delivering a ball to Abboud at the near post in the 37th minute, who made it 6–0. Just before the break, Hunter again found Abboud, who tapped into an empty net for his hat-trick and Jeanfield’s seventh.
The second half began just as clinically. In the 47th minute, J. Jardine surged down the left and squared for Calderwood, who made no mistake with the finish.
Ten minutes later, Hunter delivered a corner that found N. McNicol unmarked in the box; he headed home with ease to make it 9–0.
On 61 minutes, Gillies turned provider, slipping in Calderwood for his second of the game. Just a minute later, Abboud played a clever ball into strike partner Jardine, who slotted under the keeper to bring up goal number 11.
At 65 minutes, Abboud saw his header saved, but the rebound fell kindly to B.Blyth, who made it 12–0.
Blyth then grabbed his second of the game in the 73rd minute, rising to meet another dangerous Hunter corner and heading into the roof of the net.
C.Mathews was introduced in the 81st minute to help see out the result.
There was still time for one final flourish. Calderwood’s shot in the 82nd minute broke to Hunter, who smashed the ball into the corner to cap off a superb team performance — and a 14–0 win.
