Jeanfield made the trip to Cupar to face Cupar Hearts in the third round of the Scottish Cup. Despite going into the match with a number of key injuries, they were determined to put in a solid performance.

Cupar started the game with intensity, testing the Jeanfield defense early on. In the 4th minute, a well-placed free kick was saved, but the follow-up effort from Cupar rattled the crossbar. Jeanfield, though, continued to press and try to play their game, although they found themselves up against a physical Cupar side. Jeanfield had a great chance to open the scoring but K.Brown's shot ended up being straight at the keeper. The battle raged on throughout the first half, and in the 36th minute, Cupar broke the deadlock. A midfielder was not tracked, and his cross was cleared but fell to the striker, who volleyed it into the net.

Despite the setback, Jeanfield went into the break feeling positive about their efforts and confident that a goal could be found in the second half. However, as the wind picked up, they found themselves not only battling Cupar but also the increasingly difficult conditions. Cupar began to take control of the game, and Jeanfield goalkeeper J. Welch was called into action time and again, making a series of impressive saves to keep the Swifts within reach. Jeanfield had a chance to equalise as J.Howie broke through the defence but couldn't get a strong enough shot away and the keeper collected.

Sadly, in the 61st minute, a long throw was flicked on and deflected off a Jeanfield defender, finding its way into the net for Cupar's second goal. The game was effectively sealed in the 75th minute when Cupar's winger cut inside and fired a shot that sailed over the keeper's head and into the back post.
