Jeanfield switched the venue to the astro to ensure the game could go ahead after the Riverside pitch was deemed unplayable. After over a month without a fixture, the Swifts were delighted to finally get back into action, despite the horrendous conditions.

Jeanfield almost made the perfect start when K. Mitchell was found by a brilliant through ball inside the opening minutes, but his effort drifted wide of the post. The breakthrough came on 19 minutes when K. Brown lofted a ball over the top for J. Jardine, who beat the keeper at the near post.

The Swifts pushed hard for a second, but poor finishing kept the score at 1–0. At the other end, J. Welch produced a couple of excellent saves to preserve the lead. The half-time whistle was welcomed after a tough 45 minutes playing into the wind.

Jeanfield were urged to keep the pressure on but be more clinical in front of goal, and they responded in style.

Within minutes of the restart, A. Smith slipped J. Jardine in, who skipped past his defender and finished at the back post to claim his brace.

Out of nowhere on 47 minutes, an Auchterarder winger struck a shot that looked to be drifting wide, but the wind carried it into the back post. That proved to be the wake-up call Jeanfield needed.

On 58 minutes, J. Jardine beat his man and fired in a low cross for R. Gillies, who flicked the ball home at the back post.

Just two minutes later, A. Phillips released Gillies down the right and he smashed home to grab his second of the afternoon.

Jeanfield continued to push and created plenty of chances to extend their lead, while Auchterarder struggled to create openings and were pinned back for most of the half.

On 82 minutes, M. Hunter slipped K. Brown through and he rifled home from 20 yards.

The scoring was completed on 85 minutes when A. Hay headed across goal and B. Calderwood nodded into an empty net.
