Jeanfield Swifts welcomed Alyth AFC to the Riverside for a league clash that proved to be a tale of two halves. While the Swifts showed clinical efficiency early on, they were forced to dig deep to protect their lead against a relentless, hard-working Alyth side.

​Jeanfield started the match with intent, dominating the opening exchanges. The pressure paid off in the 14th minute when a well-placed ball into the box was met by B. Calderwood. His towering header dropped perfectly for J.Jardine, who made no mistake in slotting the ball home for the opener.
​The momentum stayed firmly with the hosts. Just three minutes later, K. Mitchell produced a moment of individual brilliance, weaving past two defenders before playing a pinpoint pass to A. Phillips. Phillips showed great composure to round the Alyth keeper and double the lead.
​However, Alyth found a lifeline in the 18th minute. Their physical center forward was allowed too much space to turn, finding the bottom corner to make it 2-1. Jeanfield nearly restored their two-goal cushion in the 25th minute when R. Gillies went through on goal, but he was denied by a spectacular save from the Alyth shot-stopper.

​The second half saw Alyth ramp up the intensity. They worked tirelessly to find an equalizer, though they struggled to create clear-cut openings in the final third.
​Jeanfield had the perfect opportunity to kill the game off when they were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute. A. Abboud stepped up, but the Alyth keeper produced another "worldie" save to keep his side in it. Remarkably, history repeated itself in the 86th minute when a handball in the box gave Jeanfield a second penalty. Abboud stepped up once more but saw his powerful effort crash off the crossbar.

​As the clock ticked down and tensions rose, Alyth finally carved out a golden opportunity. A goalbound effort was saved by J. Welch, but the rebound fell to an Alyth striker just six yards out. In a frantic sequence, the striker had four attempts to scramble the ball home, but a combination of heroic defending and poor finishing kept the Swifts' lead intact.
​Despite Alyth pushing until the final whistle, the Jeanfield defense held firm to secure a vital three points.
