Jeanfield welcomed Luncarty to the Riverside for a crucial league encounter, knowing that three points would move the Swifts another step closer to the title.
The home side started brightly and took the lead after 10 minutes. A. Smith threaded a ball through to J. Jardine, and although the defender looked favourite to clear, Jardine showed great determination to nick possession before calmly lobbing the advancing goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
Jeanfield continued to apply pressure and looked the stronger side, but were unable to find the second goal their play deserved. Instead, Luncarty struck back on 28 minutes after the Swifts cheaply surrendered possession on the edge of the visitors’ box. Luncarty countered quickly and a single pass in behind sent their striker through on goal to finish well one-on-one with the keeper.
Things became even more difficult for Jeanfield on 39 minutes when B. Blyth was shown a red card following a controversial incident. The initial foul resulted in what looked the correct decision of a yellow card, but a second yellow was then issued for allegedly kicking the ball at the striker, much to the frustration of the home side. Despite being reduced to 10 men, the Swifts dug deep and saw out the remainder of the half before regrouping at the break.
The message at half-time was simple — if Jeanfield wanted the three points, every player had to give more, run further, and show real ruthlessness.
The Swifts responded brilliantly in the second half and never once looked like a team playing with 10 men. On 59 minutes, a corner from R. Shillan was flicked goalwards by J. Jardine. The goalkeeper managed to save the initial effort, but B. Calderwood reacted quickest to smash home from close range, sparking huge celebrations on the sidelines.
Luncarty threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, but Jeanfield defended superbly under pressure. The visitors came closest on 85 minutes when a dangerous cross was met by a powerful header that looked destined for the net, only for J. Welch to produce an outstanding save to preserve the lead.
As the game entered stoppage time, tired legs were beginning to show and the Swifts sensed a huge victory was within reach. Then, in the 92nd minute, B. Calderwood put the result beyond doubt. Winning a penalty himself, he stepped up and confidently converted to seal a massive three points for Jeanfield.

Man of the Match went to Rian Shillan, who was exceptional throughout at right-back before moving into centre-back after the sending off. He led by example as captain once Kyle went off and delivered a tremendous performance in difficult circumstances.
