2006 boys played their first away league match out at Pitfour on Wednesday evening. They got off to a flier with a goal in the first minute. A strong goalkeeping clearance from Angus was picked up on the halfway line by Fergus who proceeded to blitz his way through a static Pitfour defence and rifled in a good finish in the bottom corner.
Pitfour came into the game more though and were rewarded with an equalizer whilst slightly fortuitous was probably merited. They were finding our pressing game and energy difficult to handle and the with the defence doing their job the score remained the level at the break

2nd half was as absolute thriller. Pitfour came right out of the blocks and scored early with a low shot. They would have probably have expected to go on and make it comfortable (as they did in the "small-sided" games) but the boys showed tremendous character and fought right back. A Jeanfield free-kick at 20 yards was beautifully dispatched into the top corner by Callum, sparking off an exuberant celebration which earned him a booking!! Some further pressure from the boys resulted in a penalty after a deliberate handball on the goal line by the Pitfour defender. This was coolly placed in the corner by Callum to give Jeanfield the lead.
Pitfour are a good team and came right back into it and some superb saves by Cammy and resolute defending kept it as 3-2. However we were breached with 15 mins to go with a shot in the top corner after a goalmouth scramble and soon after Pitfour managed to squeak which was ultimately the winner a couple of mins later.

This was a fantastic performance by the boys and they can consider themselves very unlucky not to have got a draw against a very good team. In terms of performance and expectation, they have really raised the bar.
