Letham Tangerines vs Jeanfield Swifts

Match Report

The boys were up very early this morning for a Perthshire Cup tie vs Letham Tangerines at Seven Acres. The boys got off to a flier with a goal in the first minute when a corner was met by Sonny who placed a lovely header into the bottom corner. Tangies were on it quickly and equalized soon after with an almost identical goal from a corner. They went ahead with a penalty which was converted on the rebound after a fantastic save by Cammy. Another couple of Tangies goals made in 4-1 after 15 mins. Credit to the boys though who kept it tight after that and with Tangies playing that ball over the top a lot we were playing the offside trap pretty well. Callum came close with a free kick as the first half ended.

The Tangies were quick out of the traps again in the 2nd half and 3 quickfire goals in the first 10 mins (2 long balls through the middle and a penalty) put the game to bed before we had really got going. However despite this and conceding another on the 50 min mark we settled down and started to play some decent football and pressing our hosts. We were rewarded with a goal with 10 left when Matthew latched onto a free ball for a well deserved goal. Kyle also came close when he met a through ball that was narrowly wide and also brought out a great save from the Tangies GK.

Whilst we let ourselves down by conceding goals at key times (and to be fair the Tangies give you no quarter if you make a mistake ) this was a far better performance than the previous match vs them a few weeks back at Jeanfield. Good displays in the team with Man of the Match being Casper who had a great game in the engine room with an energetic display. Well done, another consistent performance
