Jeanfield Swifts 2006 vs Crieff

A beautiful sunny day down by the Riverside as we welcomed Crieff for our last home league fixture of the season. It didn't disappoint as both teams served up a cracker.
Crieff were out of the blocks really quickly and were pressurising us from the off. They were unlucky not to take the lead when a shot in the box hit the inside of the post and ran along the line and out to safety..phew! We made the most of this let off when Fergus playing down the left received the ball and checking back inside buried a wonderful shot into the corner for the boys to take the lead.
Crieff were continually probing and won a penalty kick after their player was clipped in the box. The resultant spot kick though was expertly saved by Angus. We made the most of this soon after when a long clearance from Thomas deceived the Crieff GK (who does like to come off his line tbf) and plopped over him to give us a 2-0 lead.
After Crieff hit the bar and had another few chances we were starting to ride our luck and it ran out when we failed to clear an easy ball and Crieff pulled one back.

Even with the lead you felt this game could go either way and 10 mins in Crieff levelled the match with a low shot. The boys though are now playing with renewed sense of belief on their ability and straight from the kick-off we took the lead when their GK came too far out and Kyle showing superb concentration made room for himself to score a superb angled drive over him. Moments later we restored our 2-goal cushion when Kyle met a long ball down the right and crashed a shot into the net. We almost made it 5 when a run and across from Kyle was narrowly missed by a full stretch Matthew.
Crieff though were never out of it and pulled one back with just under 15 to go. With 10 to go they were awarded a free kick around 20 yards out and the Crieff player expertly rifled it in for the equaliser. ⚽

A solid and consistent performance from the lads again as we go to 3 games in a row unbeaten. Whilst a wee bit disappointed at losing a 2 goal lead twice the boys showed great character throughout, playing some nice passing football and scoring a couple of cracking goals. (12 in the last 3 matches at Jeanfield). Man of the match today was Brodie who had a fine game up the right showing great commitment in the tackle and making great runs especially in the first half. Well done.
