Swifts Unbeaten Run Ends

Swifts entertained Glasgow Girls looking to maintain their winning run. However it was the Glasgow side who coped best with the conditions and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners.
With the wind at their backs it was the visitors who took the initiative and had Swifts on the back foot. Although on the back foot it was Swifts who had the first shot at goal with McGinley's strike stinging the keepers hands. It was the visitors who took the lead however when after sustained pressure Coleman blocked a clearance and the ball spun past McIlravey.
McManus then went close with a header and McFadyen twice for the home side, but the half ended 1-0 with the visitors probably frustrated with only one goal for their pressure and Swifts now looking to take advantage of the strong wind.
To their credit the visitors got the important second goal when McManus followed up a free kick which McIlravey had saved onto the bar while her teammates failed to respond. Swifts then had a spell of pressure playing better football with McGinley's fierce shot well saved and McFadyen's effort deflected wide.
Just as it looked like Swifts were edging back into the game Treanor took advantage of a static Swifts to meet a cross and stab home. The same player rounded of events when put through with the Swifts expecting a stoppage in play, and she rolled the ball home.
Swifts will be disappointed with their performance and will be disappointed to see a long unbeaten run come to an end. Glasgow will be delighted with a result that gets them back into the mix after their setback last week.
Swifts now look forward to another big game next week with a trip to Buchan
Jason McCrindle was understandably disappointed "Really disappointed with the performance from the girls. We can come up with excuses but the better team won. I don't believe they wanted it more..they just did everything that I would look for our players to do. However one performance like that hasn't turned us into a bad team. We have the perfect game next week to bounce back away to Buchan so we will look to put a few wrongs right and bounce back. I'm sure of that because I strongly believe in this group of players".
