McGinley Hat-Trick Sinks Inverness

Swifts welcomed a rejuvinated Inverness to Perth and were looking to continue their recent form. Although they fell behind early it was to be another impressive performance from McCrindle's developing team.

After recent slow starts Swifts were on the front foot and looking in good form with the Inverness keeper making good saves from McGinley McIntyre and Scobbie in the first few minutes. However they fell behind when a break on the right and a cross found the striker in the box, and with an excellent first touch she set herself up and showing quick feet, despatched home with an excellent strike.
Swifts responded quickly and within 10mins were level when McGinley pounced on a loose ball in the box to fire home across the keeper.

Swifts were pressing and McGinley edged them ahead a few minutes later when she was set up at the edge of the box after a corner and she smacked a great strike into the roof of the net.

The game was now heading towards the away keeper and she pulled off an incredible string of saves from McGinley, McIntyre and McDonald and kept her team in the game. Foote was a continued threat down the right in her first start of the season and the movement and inter-play between Todd, McIntyre, McGinley and Scobbie was proving too hot to handle for Inverness. The continued pressure was too much with a great third team goal. It started with keeper Cochran who fed Flynn-Scott who released Strachan. Strachan played a superb ball to the onrushing McIntyre who beat her defender, rounded the keeper and unselfishly squared for McDonald who had supported the play with a great run, and she tapped home her 10th of the season.

Swifts will have been pleased with their response to going behind and with not only the goals but the quality of their play and chance creation. Overall a very impressive 45mins.

Swifts continued their earlier dominance in the second half and within 10 mins Scobbie struck a great shot through a ruck of players and into the bottom corner... a well deserved goal for a player who is hitting good recent form. Swifts were now enjoying their football and continued to create chances but continued to be denied by the away keeper. Irvine was now on a getting on the ball and Leiper had entered proceedings and was instantly succeeding in her battle with the dangerous Bodiam.

It wasn't until the last 10mins when Swifts were rewarded for their efforts with McGinley completing her hat-trick and her 30th of the season - a truly outstanding return for the striker who is now approaching her 100th goal for the club. A few minutes later she slipped in Fox who finished with a very clever dink past the keeper - another goal for the young striker who is showing herself to be a clinical and calm finisher under pressure.

Head Coach Jason McCrindle was understandably pleased "I felt after the Buchan game that we played really well and would need something special to beat that performance. We did that today, we were absolutely fantastic both on and off the ball, all over the park we were outstanding defensively looked good midfield covered every inch of the park and our forward players can win us games with the quality they have. Without doubt this is the best group of players we have had in my time here not just in terms of ability but as people we are all working for each other and it's a joy to watch them play".
